2009....a synopsis, a good-bye...and a hello!

Wow. the end of 2009. nothing philosohical or profound here. but....a year in review.
january....started a blog! it was one of the things i was going to do in 2009...one of the few i actually accomplished. scott started rookie school with charlotte fire dept. mom was in icu.
february...calm and quiet....one of the few times that happened in '09.
march...scott's 23rd birthday. caught up with an old friend who was in town for a visit.
april...took a trip to williamsburg....mom in icu....my brother and sister visited.
may...met the wonderful people from hospice...spent a lot of time with mom and dad...talked on the phone a lot...learned how to be really really strong....missed my brother and sister.
june....lost mom. brother and sister came home...funeral...took a father's day trip with dad and my sister.
july...my 53rd birthday...scott graduated from fire academy and started as a firefighter for cfd....steven went to afghanistan for a year...melissa and brandon's anniversary.
august...long. and hot. and very quiet.
september...went to maine....loved it!
october...mason's 2nd birthday...love my little buddy!
november...melissa's 27th birthday...ed's 59th birthday...thanksgiving...melissa told us she's expecting!!
december...lots of shopping...scott home...jessi home...melissa and her family home....boxes to steven and his guys in afghanistan...boxes to maine and oregon....christmas!!
i learned how to knit in '09....and i found strength i didn't know i had....i made promises i didn't keep and i kept some promises i didn't think i could...and it all has helped me know the importance of looking forward. remember what is past, but look forward to what is yet to come.
so you see....some blessings, some pain, some things to forget, some things to always remember...some things to look forward to....in some ways it is very easy to let go of this year...and is other ways, it is so difficult. but this i do know....i welcome 2010. i look forward in anticipation, quietly, with reverence, with peace, with thanks.....happy new year!
