I'm so proud of my kids

First of all, may I just say it is a really beautiful day here...skies are blue, sun is playing peekaboo. It's cold, but that's OK... either of 2 things would be good weather-wise right now....if it's going to be cold, it needs to snow up to a giraffe's hiney, but if it's going to be warm and sunny, I'm all for bringing spring!!
This past week Scott was home for the longest single stretch, I believe, since he went away to school....he was here more than 10 days...and it was so good. But today for him is the absolute best, for it is the day he begins as a firefighter with the Charlotte Fire Dept. It is amazing how the doors opened in order for him to follow this dream he's had since he was old enough to know what a fire truck was! This is what he's studied for at UNC-C, why he went to night classes to get his EMT certification, why he was a volunteer with the Newell FD for the past 4 years...this is IT for him...and I couldn't be happier or more proud.
Also this past week, Mason started walking!! He also got his first boo-boo on his very first day of walking, but it had to happen sometime. He's so funny...he starts slowly but gets so excited he tries to run and holds out his arms and just falls toward you after 5 or 6 steps, then laughs and claps. And he's started trying to talk....he jabbers a mile a minute, pretends he's talking on the phone....it's too cute! Melissa and Brandon are so blessed to have such a little treasure...and they are doing such a great job with him. Which makes me blessed even more because I'm Mom or Grammy to ALL of them....Scott, Melissa, Brandon and Mason.....who could ask for anything more?
